Meetings of the RA Minister of Diaspora with Armenian communities in cities of the Kingdom of Sweden
On October25, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan continued her visits to and meetings with Armenian communities based in different cities across Sweden.
Minister Hranush Hakobyan visited the Armenian-populated city of Orebro of the Kingdom of Sweden where she laid a wreath at the monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide unveiled in Vallokraparken Park in May 2015.
The minister met with Chairperson of Orebro City Council Agneta Blom and discussed issues related to the needs of the local Armenian community and the municipal authorities’ assistance.
During a meeting with the local Armenian community, Minister Hranush Hakobyan and the representatives of the community discussed issues concerning the community and exchanged views on the perspectives of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership. The students of the local Armenian Sunday School performed Armenian songs and dances. During the meeting, the minister granted the Gold Commemorative Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to former Deputy of the Riechstag and member of Orebro City Council Mourad Artin for his notable contributions to the development of the Armenia-Diaspora partnership and to the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in Sweden.
In Stockholm the minister visited the “Armenian Home” Club of the Coordinating Center of Armenian Associations of Sweden where she had a meeting with the young scouts of Homenetmen, who talked about their activities aimed at providing the Armenian youth of Sweden with athletic, cultural and patriotic education and preserving the national values.
In the evening, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Sweden hosted a meeting for leaders of various Swedish-Armenian community organizations with the RA Minister of Diaspora. During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues facing the Swedish-Armenian community and the possible ways that the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Sweden could help. They also exchanged views on supporting the thousands of Syrian-Armenians having taken shelter in Armenia and in the Kingdom of Sweden due to the Syrian crisis.
