Event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide held in Vienna
On October 16, the Turkish Association of Youth and Students of Vienna organized a discussion devoted to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide in Austria. The title of the event was “To Understand and Commemorate the Armenian Genocide in the 100th Year”.
According to Akunq.net, the keynote speakers were Turkish publicist and historian Ayshe Hyur and Armenian Turkologist and historian Meline Anumyan. Ayshe Hyur talked about the role that the Kurds and Cherkezs have played in the Armenian Genocide, while Meline Anumyan gave a speech entitled “The Armenian Genocide in the documents devoted to the trial of the Young Turks (1919-21)”.
The event included performances of Komitas’s songs by Beitur Borovalen and Gyuner Destan and with a question-and-answer session.
