Unprecedented book devoted to Christianity has been published in Turkey
A comprehensive book devoted to the foundations of Christianity in Turkey has been released and is unprecedented in its nature.
According to haber.sat7turk.com.tr, the book, which is entitled “The Fundamental Principles of Christianity”, was compiled by an 11-member committee in the course of over 10 years, reports ermenihaber.am.
The members of the committee were representatives of Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Syrian Orthodox and Protestant Churches in Turkey. According to the source, this is the first all-Christian book devoted to the fundamental principles that help consolidate all the directions of Christianity.
Armenian bishop Sahag Mashalian, who gave a speech at the book presentation, mentioned that the committee was established in 2002 when the Turkish Ministry of National Education had addressed churches with the request to redraft texts devoted to Christianity in Turkish textbooks and prepare new texts. Afterwards, the committee also developed a separate textbook devoted to Christianity. The bishop voiced hope that the book would be translated into other languages.
