Holy Spirit Church of Prague transferred to the Armenian community

On October 11, the Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Prague was transferred to the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Parish Community of the Armenian Apostolic Church, reports Orer magazine’s website.

Among those attending this historic event was leader of the Czech Catholic Church and Cardinal Dominique Duca, who helped make the Czech-Armenians’ wish come true. In the past couple of years, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Czech Republic, Barsegh Archimandrite Pilavchyan and Cardinal Duca had established cordial relations, and those relations helped end the negotiations that led to a positive outcome.

The ceremony of transfer of the 14th century Holy Spirit Church began with a liturgy and a prayer of thanks. After the speeches, Cardinal Duca handed the symbolic key to the Church to Father Barsegh, and the gathered were given wooden crosses as something to remember.

Let us mention that the Armenians have never had a church in Prague, but over the past decade, all church ceremonies had been conducted at the Saint Yili Catholic Church of Prague, which was provided to the community of faithful Armenians.
