The consecration of the Catholic Church in Gyumri serves as evidence of the unity of Christian Churches: Aram I

The consecration of the Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is great evidence of the unity and integrity of the Armenian people in the homeland. This was mentioned in the blessing of Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia, which was read by Primate of the Diocese of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in Aleppo, Archbishop Shahen Sarkisian.

According to Catholicos Aram I, the consecration of the church, as well as the presence of the Armenian Apostolic and Catholic Churches serve as evidence of the love and unity between the Christian Churches and the unity of the Armenian people. “The Armenian World, the Republic of Armenia, the Artsakh Republic and the entire Armenian Diaspora maintain our country that was established after the bloodshed of our martyrs. With our canonized martyrs we will continue our struggle with the spirit of stating our claims for the just rights of our nation,” the blessing of Catholicos Aram I reads.

On his behalf, Archbishop Shahen Sarkisian conveyed greetings to Pope Francis. On September 24, President Serzh Sargsyan attended the ceremony of consecration of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Catholic Church in Gyumri and the Holy Mass held as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

On the occasion of the opening of the church, Papal Nuncio, Bishop Marek Socinsky read the message of Pope Francis, and the delegation comprised of bishops of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin presented the Patriarchal Blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.
