Istanbul-Armenian intellectuals hosted at the RA Ministry of Diaspora
On September 21, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Istanbul-Armenian composer Mazhak Toshikian, deputy editor of Marmara Daily Makruhi Hagopian, choirmaster of the Lusavorich Choir Hagop Mamikonian, as well as singers Partev Karian and Boghos Yeghiazar.
Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan greeted the Istanbul-Armenian guests who are in Armenia to participate in the “We Sing Komitas” Festival and presented the program of the festival.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues on organization of the Lusavorich Choir’s upcoming concert and the problems facing the Armenian community of Istanbul. The RA Minister of Diaspora attached importance to the preservation of Armenian cultural heritage and mentioned that the Armenian community of Istanbul plays a huge role in this, especially since the community has been established in a region where Armenians have the richest cultural heritage.
The Istanbul-Armenian musicians expressed gratitude to the RA Minister of Diaspora for helping organize the Lusavorich Choir’s upcoming concert.
On September 24, Lusavorich Choir will give a concert on the sidelines of the “We Sing Komitas” Festival at Aram Khachaturian Large Concert Hall. The concert will include performances of the songs of composer Mazhak Toshikian.
