The organization “Internet Society” starts the procedure of accepting applications for the registration of names in the Internet domain representing Armenia—.հայ (“hye”) beginning from September 1, 2015. The aim of the latter is to present the holders of trademarks and tradenames with the possibility of a primary registration.

Armenpress was informed from Grigori Saghyan Vice Chair of “Internet Society” NGO that three months are provided to register the trademark or tradename in “հայ” domain. Grigori Saghyan informed that the applications are accepted only online via the website isoc.am. 5000 AMD will be charged for the review of the application which is as much as the price of a domain name for a year. Saghyan said that a domain name will not be granted in case of a false or unintelligible trademark or tradename. In answer to the question as what benefits an Armenian language domain will bring to the Armenian Internet domain, Saghyan replied: “As the query we did showed that 30 percent of our population does not master any language except Armenian, this will allow those people to make full use of the resources having “հայ” domain.” Many brands are recognizable only in Armenian from the point of view of advertising. It will be beneficial for those companies to have an Armenian domain as the Armenia letters will immediately strike the eye.

The company ICANN (The International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) approved the high quality “հայ” Internet domain in July, 2015. Due to the latter the users will be able to register Internet addresses in the Armenian language. By Ani Nazaryan
