The Karaburun Municipality of Turkey has refused to support the tenth conference being held in the city of Karaburun since the expression “1915: Genocides of the Armenians and the Assyrians” has been used in the announcement about the conference. As reports the Turkish Sendika, writes ermenihaber.am, the September 2-6 conference will be held under the title “Nature of Capital: Genocides, Massacres, Wars”.

The organizing committee of the conference has had to make a new announcement and a call for solidarity following the municipality’s decision.

According to the organizing committee, all the aspects of the issue were discussed during meetings with the mayor of Karaburun, but in spite of that, the mayor’s decision has remained unchanged. The organizing committee has declared that the conference will be held in Karaburun, regardless of the difficulties facing the committee.

“The conference in Karabaurun will continue, and the organizing committee won’t change its position and the principles. We’re going to stand up for our conference more than ever. We’re going to continue to hold our conference with our supporters, without being depressed or giving up. The conference will have a great impact on the academic world and social life in Turkey,” as stated in the announcement.
