On July 12, the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church celebrated Vardavar (the Festival of Roses). On this occasion, a Holy Mass was served at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of Akhaltskha and was attended by Vicar of the General Prelacy of Javakhk, Archimandrite Babken Salbyan, reports javakhkmedia.com.
After the Holy Mass, members of the Armenian Youth Educational and Cultural Center of Akhaltskha performed Armenian national dances, Priest Ghevond blessed the water and the youth, according to tradition, started watering each other.
The Armenians of Akhaltskha celebrated Vardavar once again. The Armenian boys and girls of all districts were watering each other, and Georgian children happily joined them.
