The Knesset is morally responsible for recognizing the Armenian Genocide

The Knesset is morally responsible for recognizing the Armenian Genocide. This is what Speaker of the Knesset Julie Egelstein announced during the session of the Knesset’s Committee on Education, Culture and Sport.

“I visited one of the Armenian monuments, and it’s hard to overlook what I saw there. I hope the Knesset and I will treat the issue properly so that we take decisions that correspond to the moral standards of a democratic state,” Julie Egelstein said, according to armradio.am.

The Speaker of the Knesset explained that though the parliaments of many countries acknowledge that tragedy, many governments don’t. “I’ll try to advance the issue, and I hope the members of the Knesset know the right way of voting at the moment of truth,” she said.
