Hamasyan’s concert frustrated nationalist mayor of Kars
Mayor of Kars Murtaz Karachanta has issued a statement on the “Luys I Luso” (Light in the Morning) concert that Tigran Hamasyan gave in Ani, reports ermenihaber.am.
As the Turkish gazetekars reports, in his statement, the mayor mentioned that he was very offended that the mass media referred to Ani as the ruins of Ani. According to the mayor, the media may have an impact on the growth of tourism by referring to Ani as a city in ruins.
Karrachanta links Hamasyan’s concert to the Armenian flag that was waved at the fortress of Kars a couple of months ago. “Some people might place an Armenia flag on the fortress of Kars and people will say that they can do that because they’re tourists. Someone else can come and give a concert, and people will say he’s just playing the piano. Fine, in that case, I would like to ask the following: If art is universal, why were the people on stage dressed as priests?” as stated in the mayor’s statement.
Karachanta added that they don’t have any problem with anyone and nobody should have any problems with them.
