The events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide continue in Armenia’s Shirak Province. Among those events are the tree-planting ceremonies that have been and are organized in various communities of the province. The May 19 tree-planting ceremony was held with the title “100 Trees on the 100th Anniversary” as part of the “100 Trees on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide” event organized by the women’s council of the Republican Party of Armenia. Let us mention that the tree-planting ceremonies in all provinces of the republic have been held according to the climatic conditions.
The goal of this initiative is to make Armenia’s cities and villages stronger and make them look better by planting trees and commemorating the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide. The representatives of the RPA Shirak branch led by chairperson of the RPA Shirak branch’s women’s council Lolya Khachatryan held tree-planting ceremonies in all regions of the province and in Gyumri. Several schoolchildren joined the women’s council and participated in the action. As chairperson of the women’s council of the RPA Shirak branch told “Armenpress”, the program was held with schools and with the help of schoolchildren, who will look after the trees. “With this initiative, we’re not only making the yards look better, but we’re also adding green areas. Another goal is to establish the connection between schoolchildren and nature and teach them to love and protect nature,” Lolya Khachatryan mentioned.
