2015 Pan-Armenian Summer Games will be unprecedented

The 6th Pan-Armenian Summer Games will be held on 2-13 August as part of the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the World Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games reports, according to NEWS.am Sport.

“The 6th Pan-Armenian Summer Games will be unprecedented not only in terms of the number of participants, but also in terms of the geography. The Games will be held in Yerevan, Stepanakert, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Abovyan and Artashat.

Whereas there were nearly 3,200 participants in the previous Games, today, there are already 4,000 applicants, and they are all from the Armenian Diaspora. Overall, we plan on hosting about 5-5,500 athletes,” Chairman of the World Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games Ishkhan Zakaryan announced during the WCPG executive committee’s April 27 session.

Seven sport categories (Beach Volleyball, Athletic Dances, Golf, Handball, Armwrestling, Biking and Shooting) have been added to the previous ten sport categories (Football, Futsal, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton and Swimming).

Stepanakert will host the football and volleyball tournaments, Gyumri and Abovyan will host the football tournaments, Vanadzor will host the handball tournaments, and Artashat will host the athletics tournaments. The Yerevan-Etchmiadzin Highway has been selected as the bike track.
