Journalist Vruyr Tadevosyan wrote the following on his Facebook page:

“Armenians closed Taksim Square, which is the largest square in central Istanbul. Arsineh Khanjian and other renowned Diaspora Armenians were also there. The songs “Ter Voghormea”, “Ov Sirun, Sirun” and other Armenian spiritual songs were performed. People were crying and expressing their emotions. They also tied ribbons on a wish tree in memory of their ancestors who had fallen victim to the Armenian Genocide. They will take that tree with ribbons across the cities of Anatolia and will continue to hold events.”
