Erdogan: “We are not obliged to recognize the Armenian Genocide at someone’s request”

During a live broadcast, President of Turkey Recep Tayyib Erdogan responded to journalists’ questions as he touched upon relations with Armenia and the Armenians.

“The Armenians abroad aren’t calming down. They’re constantly undertaking initiatives. They’re debating and even disputing with Turkey on this matter. We can’t tolerate this. We are not obliged to recognize the Armenian Genocide at someone’s request.”

According to the Turkish Haberturk.com, Erdogan raised once again the proposal to leave the issue of the genocide to historians and expressed willingness to accept the results of the historians’ studies, no matter what they may be.

“We are sincerely ready to sit around a table, but the Armenians are dodging and are making parliaments of countries not related to the issue pass laws,” Turkey’s President said, as Ermenihaber.am reports.
