Event dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of Armenian Independence held in Cairo
On September 28, the Armenian Embassy in Egypt hosted a reception dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia.
Among those attending the event were Egypt’s Minister of Nature Protection Khaled Fahmi, First Deputy Minister of Culture Camelia Sobhi, the corresponding officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and other ministries, foreign ambassadors, public and political figures, businesspeople, journalists, as well as several members of the Egyptian-Armenian community.
In his speech at the reception, RA Ambassador to Egypt Armen Melkonyan talked about Armenia’s achievements made throughout the years of independence and the development of Armenian-Egyptian relations, touched upon the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and talked about the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Touching upon the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian Ambassador stressed the imperative for Turkey to confront its past.
Yesterday President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Misi’s Personal Representative Ahmad Menesi visited the RA Embassy and transmitted the warm congratulatory remarks and good wishes to the RA Ambassador, addressed to RA President Serzh Sargsyan and the Armenian people on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
