Armenian Genocide Commemoration events in the UAE

On Apr. 25, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the United Arab Emirates hosted an event dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In his speech, RA Ambassador to the UAE Gegham Gharibjanyan presented RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s April 24th message, talked about the Armenian authorities’ and all Armenians’ efforts for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and attached importance to the significance of the ongoing struggle for restoration of historical justice.
Among other speakers was Catholic Vicar in the UAE and Qatar, Father, Archimandrite Mesrop Sargsyan.
The event was followed by a candle-lighting ceremony and a Requiem Mass in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the yard of the RA Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Several other Armenian Genocide Commemoration events were held in the UAE. On Apr. 24, a Requiem Mass was served at St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Sharja. A commemoration ceremony was held in front of the cross-stone in the yard of the newly built Holy Martyrs Church in Abu Dhabi, and in the evening, stars from Armenia, including RA Honored Artists Anna Mayilyan and Sargis Najarian, as well as Gayane Grigoryan and Hamaspyur Manukyan presented the play “Komitas: Eternal Traveler” dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide at Pierre Keosaian Hall of the complex in Sharja, reports the RA MFA press service to “Hayern Aysor”.
