New agreement to solve Armenian migrants’ residency issues has been signed in Moscow

During a working visit to Moscow, Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan had a meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrusheyev. After the private talks between the two SC Secretaries, the heads of the two countries’ migration services delivered reports on the agreements reached during their discussion.

The meeting led to the signing of a document between the migration services of both countries that will regulate all issues related to the residency and employment of all Armenian migrants in the Russian Federation. A roadmap for joint activities has also been developed.

Artur Baghdasaryan expressed gratitude to his Russian counterpart for his support and regulation of the issue.

It was decided that the inter-departmental task force established through the staffs of the Security Councils of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia would continue its activities to regulate the existing issues and any issues that may emerge.

The participants of the meeting also exchanged views on the current state of affairs in the CSTO responsibility zone, as well as issues related to regional and international security and discussed the process of implementation of the points in the minutes of meeting signed after Patrusheyev’s visit to Armenia in June 2013. During the discussion, the sides particularly focused on the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the study and use of outer space for the purposes of military, technology and for peaceful purposes, the creation of centers for humanitarian and state reserves in Armenia and Russia, as well as issues related to other spheres.

The sides also reached an agreement on the implementation of strategic programs in several branches of economy.

The meeting was followed by the signing of bilateral documents, including:

-the minutes of meeting of Secretary of the National Security Council of the Republic of Armenia and Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrusheyev,

-the 2014-15 Plan for Cooperation between the Staff of the National Security Council of the Republic of Armenia and the Staff of the Security Council of the Russian Federation,

-the Memorandum of Intentions for the development of future cooperation in the sphere of migration between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, reports the press service of the National Security Council.
