Albert Mkrtchyan turns 77

On Feb. 27, renowned filmmaker, director, actor Mher Mkrtchyan’s brother, Albert Mkrtchyan turned 77 years old.

According to “ArmenPress”, Albert Mkrtchyan was born on February 27, 1937 in Leninakan. In 1960, he graduated from the Acting Department of Yerevan State Institute of Arts and Theater and went on to continue his studies in the Directing Department of Moscow Institute of Cinematography.

Since 1971, he has been a director for HyeFilm Studio. Since 2003, he has been the director and artistic director of Mher Mkrtchyan Artists’ Theater of Yerevan. From 1980 to 2001, he has taught at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan and Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema. His most famous works are “Song of the Old Days” (“Hin Oreri Yerge”), “The Tango of Our Childhood” (“Mer Mankutyan Tangon”) and “Happy Bus” (“Urakh Avtobus”).

In 2000, Albert Mkrtchyan was granted the “Movses Khorenatsi” Medal of the Republic of Armenia. In 2003, he received the title of People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia. Albert Mkrtchyan has also received the Special Award at the annual “Hayak” Armenian Movie Awards.
