Yerevan Day to be celebrated on 29-30 September

In 2018, Yerevan Day will be celebrated on 29 and 30 September instead of 13 October, which is the traditional date. The draft decision on the dates was approved during a government session.

According to Armenpress, the change of date is due to the number of events to be held as part of the 17th Summit of heads of Francophone states and governments to be held in the Republic of Armenia in October 2018, the need for proper holding of those events and the time required for holding them.

This year marks the 2,800th anniversary of Yerevan.
