Artavazd Armenian Theater Studio of the Armenian community of the Russian city of Volgograd is rehearsing to perform a new play based on the fairy tales of Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan and dedicated to the writer’s 150th birth anniversary. On this occasion, Artavazd Studio is announcing a casting.
The studio was established three years ago by Kamo Petrosyan, and the members are Satenik Kurghinyan, Hunan Avetisyan, Narine Harutyunyan and Davit Petrosyan.
The first performance was Lalvarents’s “Request for Silence”, followed by Atchemyan’s “Khorosho” and Sahyan’s “You Left Me Alone”. On January 28, on the occasion of Paruyr Sevak’s birthday, the theater studio hosted a poetry event.
“The goal of Artavazd Armenian Theater Studio is to present Armenian arts, not lose the national image, as well as acknowledge and have an understanding of Armenian culture. We Diaspora Armenians become assimilated and lose our national identity quickly without language and live speech,” Kamo Petrosyan stated in an interview with Hayern Aysor, emphasizing that the key objective is to be human and stay Armenian.
In October 2018, Artavazd Armenian Theater Studio will participate in the Theaterical Lori Theater Festival, which will be held in Alaverdi and is dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Hovhannes Tumanyan.
