Tyumen’s Mesrop Mashtots Armenian Cultural Center hosts event dedicated to International Mother Language Day

On February 26, the Mesrop Mashtots Armenian Cultural Center of the Russian Tyumen Oblast (operating adjunct to the Haiastan Armenian Culture and Enlightenment NGO led by H. Pashayan) hosted a beautiful event dedicated to International Mother Language Day.

As reported Alvan Poghosyan to Hayern Aysor, the goal of the event was to instill in the children the feeling of love for and devotion to the mother language.

The “heroes” of the day were the members of the Mesrop Mashtots Armenian Cultural Center of Tyumen and the Armenian club of the Ethnos Children’s Center for Creative Development and Humanities in Tyumen (teachers A. Poghosyan, R. Danielyan and S. Simonyan).

During the event, the children presented the origin, history and course of development of the Armenian language. They recited poems devoted to the mother language, as well as the sayings of Armenian and foreign thinkers about the Armenian language. The children valued the role of language as a factor for national preservation and took an oath to maintain the purity of the Armenian language and promote its development. The members of the Center’s theater company performed the play entitled “The Creation of the Armenian Alphabet” under the direction of Bagrat Tadevosyn. The event also featured performances of Armenian songs and dances.

The Center’s organizational affairs correspondent Aghunik Nanayan expressed her deep gratitude to the guests and added that the Armenian language had helped the Armenian people survive throughout the centuries and preserve their national identity.

  1. Sargsyan expressed her words of gratitude on behalf of all the children’s parents.

“We congratulate all the attendees and express our sincere gratitude to the organizers of this beautiful event. On behalf of the parents, I express deep gratitude to those who helped establish this Armenian center, namely Sergo Stepanyan and Hamlet Pashayan.

Our children have all the opportunities to learn how to read and write in Armenian, participate in such events, as well as sing and recite only in Armenian.”
