Participants of “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum laid flowers at Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial
On July 12, the participants of the first “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum, which is organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, Luys Foundation and Ayb Foundation, visited Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial, laid flowers near the monument to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
Afterwards, the “Advocacy and Media” atelier held its second session entitled “Armenian Genocide: 100 Years Later”, which was moderated by Deputy Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Suren Manukyan.
Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan touched upon the results of Armenian Genocide research in his speech entitled “New Milestones and Perspectives for International Recognition of the Armenian Genocide and Armenian Genocide Research”.
The speaker also presented the activities and upcoming programs of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Safrastyan gave a comprehensive presentation of the main stages and peculiarities of Turkey’s denial of the Armenian Genocide.
Chief legal consultant of IDeA Foundation Yeghishe Kirakosyan touched upon the international legal grounds for liability for the Armenian Genocide, the efforts being made for recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and elimination of the consequences and the necessary mechanisms, as well as the current issues and challenges.
RA Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Nazaryan presented the vision of the “Against the Crime of Genocide” global forum, stressing that the goal of forums like the current youth forum is to continue the enterprising steps of the Republic of Armenia to prevent the crime of genocide and help raise the issue of the Armenian Genocide in the foreign policy agenda.
Executive Director of IDeA Foundation Edgar Manukyan talked about the role and significance of the Aurora Awards in his speech.
After the session, the speakers answered questions from the participating students.
