We are ready to receive all Syrian-Armenians who have decided to leave Syria. This is what RA President Serzh Sargsyan announced during a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras, as reports “Armenpress”, citing the Greek government’s official website.

President Sargsyan also stressed that the international community needs to support countries receiving refugees. “Firstly, we need to eliminate the real reason for instability. Secondly, the international community needs to support the countries that receive refugees,” Serzh Sargsyan said.

According to the RA President, the best way of solving the refugee issue is to eliminate the main reasons for those issues, that is, the instability in the Near East, particularly in Syria. “We, as a country with a relatively small population, have received quite a large number of refugees. Armenia has received nearly 17,000 refugees.

In reality, the term ��?refugee’ is disputed to a certain extent since those people are of Armenian descent, they are Armenians. The people coming to Armenia are our brothers from Syria. But in reality, these descriptions don’t reduce the number of economic and other problems that are emerging,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
