FREDA to build 1,000 new homes in Artsakh

On November 11, Prime Minister of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan left for the Martuni region where he was introduced to the process of completion of the programs being carried out by the Fund for Rural Economic Development in Armenia (FREDA) in several villages.

As reports the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of the Artsakh Republic, the head of government participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the foundation of apartment buildings to be built through a charity project in Nerkin Tchartar village. Each of the two buildings under construction for the families of officers through funding from FREDA will have 24 apartments. The project also envisages the construction of a playground, a parking lot and other infrastructures. The Prime Minister welcomed the FREDA’s initiative and mentioned that the construction of homes is considered one of the key strategic objectives of the Artsakh Republic. According to him, the issue of providing the families of officers with homes is in the focus of the government and benefactors.

“I welcome this initiative of the FREDA that keeps our officers’ housing needs in focus. The pro-national efforts of the organization’s founder, Vladimir Avagyan are exemplary. Besides building homes, the FREDA also carries out different projects in Tchartar and in dozens of villages of Artsakh,” the Prime Minister said.

Benefactor Vladimir Avagyan also greeted the gathered and mentioned that the FREDA will be carrying out projects not only in rural communities, but also for the Defense Army. “In the next couple of years, the FREDA will be building nearly 1,000 homes for the families of officers and multi-member families in the rural communities of Artsakh,” the benefactor informed.

The Prime Minister and the benefactor participated in the grand groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the buildings that ended with the blessing of Archimandrite Sahak Shakaryan. Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan also visited the local secondary school where he was introduced to the existing conditions.

Afterwards, the head of government visited the city of Tchartar where, with the accompaniment of benefactor Vladimir Avagyan, he was introduced to the construction of the ceremonies hall, church and apartment buildings being carried out by the FREDA. The Prime Minister also visited the building designed to become a gym.

During the visit to Tchartar, the Prime Minister also participated in the ceremony of transferring two new emergency trucks to the community.

The head of government also visited the Khnushinak and Gishi villages where he was introduced to the programs being carried out through funding from the FREDA. The Prime Minister and the benefactor discussed some details and reached agreements on future cooperation.

During the visit, Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan was accompanied by Deputy of the National Assembly Artur Tovmasyan and other state officials.
