Armenian MP Margar Yesayan responds to article published in Turkish nationalist newspaper

This time, the Turkish Sözcü newspaper, which is known for its nationalist views, chose non-Turkish Members of Parliament as its target, writes ermenihaber.am.

According to the Turkish yeniakit news website, this edition of Sözcü  has sent the following message to deputies of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Ravza Kavakchi and Margar Yesayan, Ozjan Purchui from the People’s Republican Party and Uja and Dilek Ojalan from the Democratic Party of Nations: “It is thanks to us that you’re here, appreciate us.”

In the article entitled “Know The Value Of This Republic Established By Ataturk”, the author focuses especially on the ethnic belonging and religious affiliation of the above mentioned persons.

“…Since everyone in the policy of this republic can hold any post (office) without national, religious and linguistic discrimination,” as emphasized in the article.

Newly elected Armenian Deputy of the Turkish Mejlis Margar Yesayan has responded to this article on his Twitter page.

“All these people, including me, were elected to the Mejlis thanks to the silent revolution that the AKP made. That’s why Sözcü says this is a positive thing,” wrote Yesayan.
