List of historical and cultural assets of Van is being formed
As reports Dicle News Agency, the Municipality of Van has started forming a list of the cultural assets of the city. The list includes the Shakhurp Chapel, the Agin Watchtower and the Inkyoy Church, which hadn’t been registered to this day.
The Department of Studies and Projects of the Municipality of Van has launched major activities to identify the cultural assets and transmit them to the future generation. Having as a basis the data obtained from studies based on sources and the registry of the council for protection in the Van region about the completed activities, readings about the city’s cultural heritage have been organized. Experts have carried out tasks related to the project that is of major significance for the city’s history, and one of those tasks is the preparation of “a card for registration in the list of immovable property”. By taking the GPS coordinates of immovable cultural heritage, they have registered digits that are required for each piece of immovable property.
The municipality has registered the monuments that hadn’t been previously registered
The Department of Studies and Projects of the Municipality of Van has carried out tasks at the Seljuklu Cemetery of Gevash province, the Halime Hatun Crypt, Hishet Fortress, the Izzettin Shir Mosque and Medres, the church in the Gyoryundu village of the same province, the Hasbei Chapel, the St. Mary (Kirmiz) Church, the church located in the Altinsac village, in the church located at the coast of the lake in Varis of Altinsac village, the Inkyoy Church, the St. Tovmas Monastery, the Holy Cross Monastery and cemetery of Akhtamar, the Agin Watchtower and residence, the Monastery of Deveboynu, the Saint Etien Monastery and the Shakhurp Monastery. Experts have carried out tasks at 16 cultural monuments (4 monasteries, 3 churches, 2 chapels, 1 residence, 2 cemeteries, 1 crypt, 1 fortress and 1 mosque). They have also prepared files of documents for registration of the Inkyoy Church, Agin Watchtower and Shakhurp Chapel and will submit them to the council for the protection of cultural monuments in Van.
The work will be shown in a book
Besides the completed tasks and the formation of the list of immovable cultural heritage assets in Van, determining the state of the unregistered monuments and affirming the missing monuments, the council for the protection of cultural monuments in Van will be presented with a file of documents related to the monuments that haven’t been registered yet. The experts, within the scope of their tasks, will take photos of and measure the monuments registered by the municipality. In addition, the monuments identified will be included in the books devoted to archaeology and art history. It is envisaged that scholars will examine the list of immovable cultural assets and the city’s cultural heritage and write a book that will become fundamental for studies on the city. Alongside brochures for tourists in Van, the book will be a comprehensive book and rich in photos.
They will reveal the statistics about all historic monuments
The Department of Studies and Projects of the Municipality of Van has prepared an action plan that needs to be implemented within two years. A database for the lists of immovable cultural monuments will be prepared for scholars. The statistics on the monuments to which there is still no access, the list of affirmed and registered monuments and the statistics on the existing monuments will be available to everyone. In addition, all the historic monuments will be mapped and accessible within the limits of the city through the GPS program.
