Evening dedicated to the memory of poets who died as a result of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire

March 21 in St. Petersburg in the State Russian Museum (Stroganov Palace) took placea literary-musical evening, dedicated to the memory of poets who died as a result the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
In the beginning of the event, the chairman of the Regional public organization “The Armenians of St. Petersburg” Alexander Nazarov presented to the audience’s attention a report about the life and work of Daniel Varujan, Ruben Sevak, Grigor Zohrab, Siamanto.
The leading man has read the poems of St. Petersburg poet Sergei Gorodetsky dedicated to Armenia.
A student of Saint Petersburg state University Sasha Mikhailova read the poem of Daniel Varujan. The poems of Ruben Sevak on the Armenian language sounded in the performance of the scholar Constantine Khurshudyan Well-known public figure Georg Gabrielyan read the poem of Siamanto. A St. Petersburg journalist and human rights activist Antoine Arakelyan shared facts from the history of the Armenian genocide.
In the musical part of the evening flutist and composer Sasun Arakelyan performed works the classics of world music Alessandro Marcello, Franz Schubert, Giulio Caccini, A. I. Khachaturian and the melody of his own composition.
At the end of the evening, General Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Saint Petersburg Grayr arapetyan told about the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide,taking place around the world and thanked the organizers of the evening in St. Petersburg.
The event is organized by the regional public organization “The Armenians of St. Petersburg” in partnership with the State Russian Museum.
