Tigran Mansurian granted the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Medal
The Prelacy of the U.S. Western Diocese held an event of homage to composer Tigran Mansurian, writes artsakhpress.
The Prelacy reports that the event was held at Tigran and Zaruhi Ter-Ghazaryan Hall on March 19.
The event began with the showing of a short documentary film called “Space between Sounds”.
Art critic Taguhi Arzumanyan talked about Tigran Mansurian’s musical talent and presented Manusrian the composer and the musicologist as a precious treasure of the homeland and an artist who enriches the homeland and the Armenian nation with his music.
Choirmaster and founding director of Lark Music School Vatche Parsoumian shared his memories of his close friendship and the first song that he had heard by Mansurian. The event also included a part from Tigran Mansurian’s “Requiem”, which is dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The Holy Father of the Prelacy informed that His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia had granted a Sacred Condac to Tigran Mansurian by which the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Medal is granted to him. After the Sacred Condac was read, the medal was granted to Tigran Mansurian, who expressed his gratitude to the gathered for congratulating him on receiving the remarkable award.
