Turkey to supply Akhtamar Island with drinking water

Turkey is carrying out works to supply Akhtamar Island (located in modern-day Gevas province of Van) with drinking water, reported the Turkish Hurriyet, according to Akunq.net.
According to the source, in which only the presence of the Holy Cross Armenian Church is mentioned, for this purpose, Turkey will build a 4,000-meter long tube underneath Lake Van. Construction will cost a total of 5,000,000 Liras. The source also stresses the importance of that project in terms of growth of tourism in Van.
