Mount Nemrut sparking more and more interest among tourists

In the course of nine months, 52,000 tourists (2,000 of which were foreigners) visited the famous Mount Nemrut (3,050 m) located in the Kahta region of the Turkish state of Adiyaman and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

According to the Turkish Star, this is what Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Adiyaman Mustafa Ekinji declared.

According to the Turkish official, the Department is currently working on making sure tourists reach the mountain easily since the road is in poor condition.

Let us remind that the crypt of King Antiokos I of the Kommagene Kingdom (the youngest branch of the Armenian Kingdom of the Yervandunis) is located on Mount Nemrut. It represents a 50 meter high, hill-shaped sandstone within which, according to claims, Antiokos is buried.

Antiokos I had erected 9 meter high statues of the gods Aramazd, Anahit, Mihr, Tir and Vahagn in the eastern and western sectors of the mountain, writes Ermenihaber.am.
