Artsakh has plans to enhance pomegranate gardens

Pomegranate gardens are the second after viniculture in Artsakh in terms of size.

How enhanced are pomegranate gardens in Artsakh? In response to Artsakhpress’s question, Minister of Agriculture of the Artsakh Republic Aram Mkhoyan said the following:

Unlike vineyards, Artsakh has seen positive growth of the cultivation of pomegranate gardens, taking into consideration the fact that vineyards are decreasing in number by the year or are not being enhanced. Today, there are 1,000 ha of pomegranate gardens in Artsakh. About 300-400 ha of pomegranate gardens have been established over the past two years alone. Artsakh has a plan for the enhancement of pomegranate gardens. In the course of the next ten years, we must have 5,000 ha of gardens. To enhance this sector, we encourage land users with various support programs. As a result, the Artsakh Republic will make serious progress in the agriculture sector, increase cash flows and export some of the crops.”
