Armenia’s choir participated in festival held in Lebanon

As diplomatic attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lebanon for activities with the Armenian community Vladimir Poghosyan told Hayern Aysor, from May 15 to 21, Lebanon hosted the 2nd International Festival of Choirs in Lebanon, gathering 22 choirs from 8 countries, including Armenia, Egypt, Estonia, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco, Norway and Switzerland. The choirs gave 16 concerts in 7 cities across Lebanon. The choir of Alexander Spendiaryan Music School represented Armenia and performed in the Lebanese cities of Zahle, Antelias, Bteknay and Tripoli. The young Armenian singers received the appraisal of the Lebanese audiences for their performances.

The concert was held at the Mar Elias Church in Antelias and attended by not only Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon Samvel Mkrtchyan, but also the leaders and representatives of political, cultural and religious organizations in Lebanon. On May 22, the members and leaders of the choir, with the accompaniment of President of the Lebanese Choral Society, founder of the International Festival of Choirs of Lebanon, artistic director and conductor of Fayha Choir in Tripoli Pargev Taslakian, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia. Ambassador Mkrtchyan highly appreciated the brilliant performances of the young Armenians at the major cultural festival and stressed the fact that Armenian music has always had its special place and role in world music. The Ambassador noted that the current generation worthily continues the sacral mission of the great Armenians, maintaining the reputation of Armenian culture abroad.
