Mariam Shahinyan considered first female photographer in Turkey (photos)

Born in 1911 in the Turkish city of Sivas, Mariam Shahinyan was a famous photographer and is considered the first female photographer in Turkey, reported Vintage Everyday, according to news.am.

In 1936, Mariam was compelled to leave her studies behind at the French Sent Pulher School so that she could help her father in his photo studio. In 1937, she had already started managing her own studio and managed it until 1985.

Mariam Shahinyan is considered the first female photographer in Turkey. She would mainly take photos of different people.
