Most of funds to be raised during Telethon 2016 to be geared towards rehabilitation of devastated settlements of Artsakh

On November 24, Hayastan All-Armenian Fund will launch Telethon 2016, the proceeds of which will be geared towards events aimed at ensuring defense and security of the peaceful civilians of Artsakh and building homes for multi-member families in Artsakh, while the ongoing target projects will continue, as reported Hayastan All-Armenian Fund to Tert.am.

The Public Relations Department of the Fund also reported that the annual traditional banquet fundraisers are organized prior to the launch of the telethon and that the first one was held in Toronto, raising $1 mln in donations. On 16-20 November, the France, Germany and Switzerland affiliates will participate in the all-European Phone-a-Thon. A fundraiser will be held in Greece on 19-20 November, and on 24 November, the affiliates of the Fund’s U.S. Western Region will hold the telethon, which will be held in Los Angeles starting from 22:00 Yerevan time and ending at 10:00 a.m. Yerevan time.

The funds raised during the past telethons have mainly been geared towards the solution to problems in Artsakh.

During Telethon 2012 (“Our Village”), the Fund raised $21,422,477 in donations and geared them towards the construction of community centers in villages of Karabakh and to the solution to issues facing Syrian-Armenians.

Based on the results of Telethon 2013 (“Towards Artsakh”), $22,661,372 was geared towards construction of the 116 kilometer Vardenis-Martakert highway linking Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh.

In 2014, the Fund raised $12,399,550 and geared it towards construction of the Vardenis-Martakert highway once again, but this time, for asphalting and smoothing, as well as for the implementation of special projects in Armenia and Karabakh selected by benefactors.

Last year, Telethon 2015 helped raise $10,378,465 in donations with the title “Our Home”. The funds were used to provide families with five or more children with homes in Artsakh and the implementation of target projects in Armenia and Artsakh selected by benefactors.
