Nikita Mndoyants becomes a winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition
Moscow-based Nikita Andoyants, 27, was one of the winners of the Cleveland Internatioanl Piano Competition in Cleveland, Ohio.
This is what the event organizers reported, according to Artsakhpress.
The jury was captivated by Mndoyants’s performance of Beethoven’s Concerto No 4 for Piano and Orchestra, which she had chosen for her final performance. In the course of only two weeks, the pianist performed about a dozen works, including the works of Haydn, Bach and Schubert. “The results of the competition are not very important. You simply prepare yourself to achieve the highest level of performance that you are capable of reaching and prepare to take a new step in your professional career,” she said.
Mndoyants was one of the four performers who made it to the final stage. Based on the results, 20-year-old Italian pianist Leonardo Coafelice won second place after performing one of Sergei Prokofiev’s most famous works, that is, Concerto No 3 for Piano and Orchestra. According to the jury’s decision, 27-year-old Ukrainian pianist Dinara Clinton won third place, followed by 28-year-old Georgy Chaidze from Russia.
Established in 1975, the Cleveland International Piano Competition is held once every two years for musicians under 30. The winner of the competition receives $75,000 dollars and becomes eligible to give a solo concert in New York.
Nikita Mndoyants was born in 1989 in Moscow. In 2011, she graduated from the Piano Department of Moscow Conservatory with honors. She has won awards at several music competitions as a pianist and composer in different countries around the world.
