Armenian organizations of the Netherlands demand government’s full recognition of the Armenian Genocide

On April 19, the Cooperating Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands has submitted a requisition to the representatives of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives led by chairperson Angelien Eijsink.

The delegates of the Cooperating Armenian Organizations, including representatives of the Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands, the Armenian National Committee, AYO Youth Organization and Gladzor Armenian Student Organization, recorded with satisfaction the visit of the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee to Armenia in the year marking the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide and the delegation’s growing involvement in Armenia.

According to one of the mentioned organizations, the organizations submitted to the Dutch parliamentarians representing almost all the political parties in parliament the content of the requisition, urging the Government of the Netherlands to fully recognize the Armenian Genocide and enforce the provisions stated in the Raufut Resolution on Recognition of the Armenian Genocide, condemn the Dutch Turks’ discrimination against the Armenians and statements instilling hatred, as well as call for a struggle against the actions of “Ankara’s long hand” in Dutch politics and society. The organizations have also discussed issues on reparations for the losses that Armenians have suffered as a result of the Armenian Genocide.

Among those attending the meeting were Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Dutch House of Representatives of the Netherlands Angelien Eijsink, Kays Fan der Stai from the Reformed Political Party, Harry von Bommel from the Socialist Party, Raymond Knops from the Christian-Democratic Call Party, Han ten Broeke from the Freedom and Democracy national political party, Michel Servas from the Labor Party and Sjord Sjordsman from the Democrats 66 Party.
