New Kilikia Armenian Cultural Center opens its doors in the Netherlands

On December 6, the Kilikia Armenian Cultural Center opened its doors in Purmerend, Netherlands, reports the Diary of the Netherlands to Hayern Aysor.
Among the guests at the opening ceremony were over 150 representatives of Armenian communities from different parts of the country, including chairman of the Saint Karapet Church of Maastricht Levon Sargis, chairman of the parish council of Dordrecht Hakob Panosyan and others.
The event began with a performance of the Armenian national anthem, followed by an opening speech by founding diretor of Kilikia Armenian Cultural Center, Dr. Zareh Hovhannesyan, who talked about the Center’s future activities. According to the speaker, the main purpose of the Center is to consolidate the efforts of Armenians and strengthen their ties and contacts. According to him, every Armenian needs to be able to show his or her potential within the organization and during cultural, educational and other kinds of events.
Traditional Armenian rituals and celebrations will be held at the Center, preserving and staying true to the identity of Christian Armenians and trying to have the Armenians engaged in social and political life and become the full-fledged citizens of the Netherlands.
The Kilikia Armenian Cultural Center has opened its doors and serves as another Armenian organization that has adopted the cherished objectives to preserve the Armenian identity.
The opening ceremony included beautiful performances by pianists Meghrik Karapetyan and Sevak Hovhannesyan, reciting of poems by Hovsep and Shaghik Asaturyans and more.
The official part of the ceremony was followed by a banquet during which the gathered had a chance to get acquainted with each other, share their impressions and form plans for the future.
