Armenian cemetery in Sebastia (Sivas) has been cleaned

The Armenian cemetery located in the military space of the Sivas (Sebastia) city of Turkey has been cleaned, reports the Turkish Hurriyet, according to ermenihaber.am.

Within the scope of the Work for the Society Project, workers and garbage collectors of the Municipality of Sivas have cleaned the area near the cemetery by removing the almost entirely covered tombstones underneath the soil.

Director of the Labor and Employment Agency of the State of Sivas Nurettin Kyoksal mentioned that though this comes late, they consider it their duty to the Armenians who have been their neighbors for 800 years. “Our State and government supports our Armenian neighbors with piety and compassion,” Kyoksal said.

Representative of the Work for the Society Project Salih Pinarli assured that the Armenian cemetery would be improved in a short amount of time.
