Istanbul-Armenian economist leads list of world’s most remarkable economists

U.S.-based economist Daron Ajemoglu, who was born in Istanbul and is of Armenian descent, is in first place in the ratings for the world’s most remarkable economists prepared by RePEc Center for Economic Studies.
Turkey’s top media outlets have provided special coverage of this, writes ermenihaber.am.
It was said that the Center examined 2,223 candidates when preparing the above mentioned list of remarkable economists. The Center took into consideration the economists’ scientific activities over the past decade, their works in the field of economics, as well as citations from those works and their popularity.
Let us mention that Daron Ajemoglu was born in 1967 in Istanbul. In 1986, he graduated from the School of Galatasaray, after which he continued his studies in the Department of Economics at York University. He obtained a scientific ranking at the London School of Economics and Political Science where he lectured between the years of 1992 and 1993. Since 1993, he has been lecturing at MIT.
