La Razon: It would be ironic, if a new Holocaust took place in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide
The Spanish La Razon has reflected on the situation that is posing a threat to Christians in the Near East and has compared it with the Armenian Genocide, writes armeniangenocide100.org.
The Christians of Syria are looking towards Europe with a cry of despair once again. They are certain that Syria will be in the hands of ISIS after the war in the not too distant future. Their cry is being heard through the Association for the Care for and Salvation for Persecuted Christians, which opened its doors in Spain this year. The Association is ready to assist in the evacuation of 2,000 Christians on a daily basis as long as the borders haven’t been closed yet.
An agreement has been reached with the Armenian government to receive some of them, but there is a need for closer collaboration with several other countries. “The Spanish government needs to coordinate the assistance provided to those Christians. If it isn’t Spain, then it has to be another EU member state. It would be ironic, if a new Holocaust took place in the year marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. If governments don’t take action, it will be too late,” leader of the “Let’s Save the Christians” initiative Kate Davis says.
