Watertown demonstrators to demand Armenian Genocide recognition from Obama
As citizens of Watertown, South Dakota get ready to welcome U.S. President Barack Obama on May 8, demonstrators for various causes hope to get his attention. Among them are demonstrators demanding U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide, writes News.am.
As the local Argus Leader newspaper writes, a group of people of Armenian descent plan to rally at the Watertown Regional Airport at 3 p.m. Friday. They want to pressure the president to use the word “genocide”.
Citizen Jack Der Hagopian mentioned that South Dakota has a sizable community of Armenian-Americans, some of whom are descendants of genocide survivors.
