RA Minister of Diaspora paid a working visit to Malta

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan was on a working visit to the Republic of Malta on 15-16 November.

The RA Minister of Diaspora had a meeting with members of the community council led by President Vera Boyajyan at the conference hall of Hotel Excelsior in Valeta. The issues concerning the community and the strengthening of Armenia-Diaspora relations were discussed during the meeting. The members of the community presented their activities and upcoming programs. Vera Boyajyan said the community was happy and content to receive the RA Minister of Diaspora and mentioned that the few Armenians of Malta participate in the programs of the RA Ministry of Diaspora with pleasure, and the youth are excited to visit Armenia and participate in the “Ari Tun” Program for homeland recognition.

The members of the council of the Armenian community in Malta stressed with gratitude the fact that the community always feels the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to all initiatives aimed at preserving the Armenian identity. The office of the community has received Armenia’s emblems and will be opening an Armenian Sunday school with the support of the ministry.

Expressing gratitude for the cordial reception and the close cooperation with the ministry, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan praised all of the community’s programs and activities aimed at preserving the Armenian identity.

The minister attached importance to the community’s efforts to support Armenia’s representative at the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The Armenians of Malta took advantage of companies’ advertising platforms at their disposal to make the presentation of Armenia’s representative as convincing as possible.

Minister Hranush Hakobyan granted certificates of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to the leaders of the community Sasun Sahakyan, Hayk Shaboyan and Grigori Ghasabyan for making contributions to the preservation of the Armenian identity and for supporting the placement of the Armenian Cross-Stone.

Later, the RA Minister of Diaspora, with the accompaniment of Vera Boyajyan and community members, visited the square of the community and laid flowers in front of the cross-stone “As a sign of friendship and gratitude to the people of Malta for the support to Armenians during the difficult times for Armenia in 1375 and 1915”. The opening ceremony of the cross-stone made from red tuff of Armavir province was held with the participation of the mayor of Valeta and Malta’s high-ranking officials.

On the same day, Minister Hranush Hakobyan had a meeting with the Armenian Delegation to the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, encouraged Betty and wished her success.

On November 16, the RA Minister of Diaspora left for London on a working visit.
