Reception commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Ceasefire in Nagorno Karabakh at the U.S. Congress

On May 16th an event marking the 25th anniversary of the ceasefire in Nagorno Karabakh convened at the U.S. Congress, hosted by the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues and the Congressional Mining Caucus.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Co-Chair of the Armenian Caucus and founding Co-Chair of the Mining Caucus, delivered remarks at the event. The Congresswoman touched upon the importance of demining in Artsakh, noting that she will continue to assist the realization of the above-mentioned mission both in Artsakh and worldwide in the framework of both Caucuses.

In his remarks Ambassador Nersesyan thanked Congresswoman Speier for organizing the event, as well as acknowledged the activities of the Armenian and Mining Caucuses in this area. Ambassador Nersesyan emphasized the importance of Nagorno Karabakh’s full involvement in the peace process for a lasting settlement of the conflict, highlighting the importance of the US mediation efforts in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to the representatives of Halo Trust organization, which is engaged in demining operations in Artsakh. The event also included a photo exhibition about the activities of Halo Trust in Artsakh.
