Iran hosts international forum devoted to Artsakh

Tehran hosted a forum devoted to regional developments, gathering guest analysts, political scientists and state officials from the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh, Iran, Lebanon and Turkey.

The geopolitical events taking place in the Middle East and their potential impact on Artsakh and Armenian-Iranian relations were touched upon during the two-day forum organized by the Armenian National Committee of Tehran.

As reported the Armenian National Committee of Tehran to Hayern Aysor, the forum featured speeches by Head of the Chair of International Relations and Diplomacy at Yerevan State University, Head of the Department for Armenian-Kurdish Relations of the Center for Armenian Studies at Yerevan State University Vahram Petrosyan; Director of the Center for Analysis of Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan; Professor of the Faculty of Law at Yerevan State University Armen Israelyan; Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Vahram Balayan; editor of international news for Lebanon’s Aztag Daily Vahram Emmiyan; member of the Armenian National Committee of Lebanon Bedo Demirdjian; editor of the Armenian language section of Istanbul’s Agos Weekly Bagrat Estoukian; Armenian MP of the Islamic Parliament Karen Khanlarian; Iranian-Armenian journalist and analyst Grigor Ghazarian; Iranian political scientists Ibrahim Motaghi and Hosein Ahmadi and expert in the Artsakh conflict Salar Seyfodini.

The speakers talked about Armenian-Iranian relations and the positive and negative actions of other countries of the region in that direction.

Head of the Department for Armenian-Kurdish Relations of the Center for Armenian Studies at Yerevan State University Vahram Petrosyan touched upon the independence referendum in Kurdistan and the crisis created as a result of that.

The Iranian participants of the forum discussed the issue of Armenia’s relations with the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the opportunities and difficulties during a discussion with Director of the Center for Analysis of Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan.

During the international forum, the Iranian and Armenian speakers placed special emphasis on the importance of revitalization of the economic relations between Iran and Armenia and stated that the high-ranking authorities of both countries should meet more frequently and discuss the problems and opportunities.
