Cross-stone placed in Cologne through funding from St. Petersburg-based benefactor Hrachya Poghosyan

On November 18, members of the Armenian community of Cologne placed a cross-stone in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The cross-stone was consecrated by Vicar of the Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Germany, Archimandrite Serovbe Isakhanyan.

As reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor, after the consecration, several attendees headed towards the St. Sahak-Mesrop Armenian Church of Cologne to participate in a commemorative event.

The event began with opening remarks by head of the Armenian community of Cologne Minu Nikbai, followed by welcoming remarks by Armenia’s Ambassador to Germany Ashot Smbatyan, Deputy Mayor of Cologne Elfie Sho-Andverpes, head of the faction of the Christian-Democratic Union of Cologne Bernd Petelkau and Deputy of Northern Hrenos and Westphalia Berivan Aymaz.

The speakers attached importance to the placement of the cross-stone and stated that paying tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide is a part of the policy of remembrance of Germany.
