“With My Heroes with the Call of Longing”-concert dedicated to heroes of Artsakh war

On November 24, within the scope of the “What are YOU doing for Artsakh?” pan-Armenian movement launched by the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, a concert dedicated to the victims of the Artsakh war and their parents will be held at Aram Khachaturian Grand Concert Hall. Artistic director of the Kantegh and Taron Armenian Folk Choirs of Los Angeles, Merited Cultural Figure of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Chakmanyan and Head of the Division for Cultural, Sport and Youth Programs of the Department of All-Armenian Programs at the Ministry of Diaspora Greta Mnatsakanyan provided details about the concert during a November 22 press conference hosted at the RA Ministry of Diaspora.

Greeting the attendees, the author of the initiative Gevorg Chakmanyan stated that he was in Los Angeles when he decided to organize a concert dedicated to the heroes killed in the heroic battle for Artsakh and in the Four-Day Artsakh War that took place in April 2016. “My brother was also killed in the Artsakh war, and my family also felt and experienced the sorrow for the loss. I know very well that it is hard to console such a pain, but this concert will be a concert of paying homage to the heroes and a concert dedicated to the victory, and the parents will first and foremost be the attendees. Of course, I had a fear that they might not want to attend the concert, but I was very motivated when I talked to many parents of deceased soldiers and realized that they were ready to attend the concert,” the artist stated. He emphasized that residents of Armenia’s remote regions have also expressed the desire to attend the concert.

“I take pride in the fact that we will be able to help the parents of the deceased soldiers forget about their worries and concerns for at least two hours and convey strength to them through performances of ethnographic songs. The interest in the concert goes to show that it must become an annual and traditional event,” Gevorg Chakmanyan emphasized.

Head of the Division for Cultural, Athletic and Youth Programs of the Department of All-Armenian Programs at the Ministry of Diaspora Gretat Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude to Gevorg Chakmanyan for this initiative and wished him more success.

Let us mention that Gevorg Chakmanyan’s son, Asatur Chakmanyan and folk singer Gohar Hovhannisyan will perform with the accompaniment of the Aram Merangulyan Folk Instruments Ensemble of the Public Radio of Armenia, and Arsen Ghazaryan will recite poems.
