French-Armenian participant of 2017 “Ari Tun” Program: “I speak Armenian better now”

On July 7, the 2nd stage of the “Ari Tun” Program of the RA Ministry of Diaspora drew to an end with a round-dance around a bonfire at the “Ari Tun” Camp in Aghavnadzor. In no way did the rain bother the participants as they performed the songs and dances that they had learned during their stay at the camp for RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan and other attendees. The emotional atmosphere at the camp and the warm hugs affirmed once again the success of the Program in gathering Diaspora Armenians in the homeland. One of the participants, 15-year-old Lucy Sarkisian from Paris was very excited as she shared her memories and impressions of the two-week visit.

“I found out about the Program from my friend, who had already participated. I was born in France. We speak French at home and I go to a French school, but I attend Armenian language lessons once a week. During the lessons, I learn how to read and write in Armenian, sing Armenian songs and talk about the history and culture of Armenia. This is my second visit to Armenia. I loved the country. It was a great pleasure to be here. During this visit, I learned a lot of things, and now I speak Armenian better. I am impressed with the visit to Noravank Monastery, but the best days were the days at the “Ari Tun” Camp where I interacted with my friends and sang Armenian songs. I would like to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Diaspora for providing me and the other participants with such an opportunity. The Program was so nice that I would like to come and participate again,” Sarkisian said.
