11th annual Pomegranate Film Festival held in Toronto

On 16-20 November, RA Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganyan participated in the 11th annual Pomegranate Film Festival organized by Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Toronto. The event gathered famous actors and film directors, Canadian public and political figures, as well as members of the local Armenian community and foreign media representatives, reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Hayern Aysor.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Yeganyan extended thanks to the festival’s organizers and to all those who had helped make this major event a success. The Ambassador touched upon the history of the Armenian film industry and talked about the great Armenian film directors of all times and their films. He stressed the fact that the already traditional Pomegranate Film Festival gathers Armenian, Canadian and other film lovers in Toronto every year.
The festival featured screenings of the Oscar-winning film “Spotlight”, Atom Egoyan’s “Remember”, Marik Andreasyan’s “Earthquake”, as well as the film “Itaka” (based on William Saroyan’s “The Human Comedy”), “Women of 1915”, “3 Weeks in Yerevan” and the Turkish film “Lost Birds”.
Some of the films presented at the festival were shown at the major movie theaters in Toronto. They gathered thousands of viewers and were well received.
