RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan receives Jordanian-Armenian sisters Madlen and Ani Medzagopian
On September 29, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Jordanian-Armenian sisters Madlen Medzagopian (researcher and analyst) and Ani Medzagopian (founding general director of the Al-Hussein Organization of Amman), who are in Armenia to acquire citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.
The Minister congratulated the Sisters Medzagopian on obtaining their Armenian passports and stated that it is a pride for every Armenian to have the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia wherever he or she may be. The Minister also urged the sisters to purchase a home in Armenia in order to become full-fledged citizens.
Expressing gratitude to Hranush Hakobyan, the Medzagopians informed that they are very interested in Armenia and in the past and present of the Armenian people and try to enhance the relations between Jordan and Armenia at different levels. In particular, Madlen, who received her higher education in political science and philosophy at the University of Uppsala (Sweden), will soon be ranked a Doctor of Sciences and is author of several studies. In May, Madlen participated in the “The Armenians of Jordan” conference hosted by Haigazian University of Beirut where she presented her study entitled “The Armenian Diaspora of Jordan between the Process of Integration and Preservation of the Relations with the Homeland”. Her goal is to continue to conduct similar studies abroad and in Armenia.
Ani Medzagopian is the head of a healthcare and cultural organization for people with limited abilities. Her husband is an engineer/mechanic and works for a large company, the administration of which wishes to establish business relations with Armenia. Ani alos informed that even though her husband is Jordanian, her children feel Armenian and are connected to Armenian traditions.
Minister Hranush Hakobyan cordially expressed gratitude to the Sisters Medzagopian for their patriotism and expressed willingness to do everything possible to help them carry out their plans.
